Rhapsody in Blue: a dream come true

Richard Galliano, one of the world’s greatest accordionists, fulfills a lifelong dream with an EP (Extended Play) dedicated to George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

“It’s a childhood dream,” confides the French musician. “I played this piece for the first time around the age of 17, and I was immediately fascinated by the power and beauty of the work. I knew I would record it one day, while being convinced that the challenge would be immense.”
Richard Galliano has met this challenge with flying colors. His version of the Rhapsody is a true tour de force, propelled by his immense talent and his insatiable passion for music, of all music.

“Playing this piece requires a long musical and human experience,” says the artist, “it is necessary to master technique and virtuosity, while having the ability to convey deep feelings. It is an exercise in precision and mastery.”

A tribute to total art, combining music, dance and poetry, a classic and modern piece at the same time, the Rhapsody continues to fascinate and move audiences around the world.

“Music is my life,” Richard Galliano tells us, “it’s what makes me want to get up in the morning, it’s what allows me to express myself and communicate with others.”
